The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on Monday reviewed the progress of preparations towards the launch of Ayushman Bharat – the National Health Protection Scheme announced in the recent Union Budget. This scheme has been named as Modi Care. On the first day of the Central Government’s Gram Swaraj campaign starting on 14 April, Ayushmann will launch the scheme for the entire country in Jangla of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
The scheme will provide a cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family. It will be targeted to cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families. The beneficiaries will be able to avail cashless benefits across India.
At a high-level meeting over two hours, the Prime Minister was apprised of the work done so far, by top officials of PMO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and NITI Aayog, for smooth roll-out of the scheme.
The Prime Minister also reviewed preparations for delivering comprehensive primary health care through health and wellness centers.
Who can take advantage of this scheme
A family which has a disabled member and does not have an adult member supervised in the family. These are the conditions if you live in rural areas. One room’s raw house, the families in the family who do not have an adult member between the ages of 16 to 59 years old. Family of women, in which there is no male between 16 to 59 years of age.
